Ilona Musaelyan

"You can never predict the trajectory your career will inevitably take.  Different circumstances kick into high gear and change directions within seconds."  And for Ilona Musaelyan, this happened in the truest sense. Ilona grew up in her family's salon & spa and from an early age was fascinated with all things beautiful. After moving to the states, she first received her degree in Fashion Design and then started her career as a makeup artist in Miami and later in New York. Ilona appeared on the TV shows such as "Ambush Makeover”; "Simply Bella"-hosted by makeup guru Michelle Phan; as well as in “Marie Claire” magazine. 
In 2005, Ilona ditched the concrete jungle and headed west. After relocating to Los Angeles, she decided to use her knowledge of color, design and beauty to pursue a career as a hair colorist. Ilona quickly landed a job at the prestigious Sally Hershberger Salon and was fortunate enough to learn her craft from two of the best, Mark Stephens and Negin Zand, who are known for transforming the locks of Hollywood.
Ilona is known for her natural approach to hair cuts and color, but is not afraid to explore dramatic transformations. Her ability to use different highlighting techniques such as foil application and Balayage (a freestyle form of highlighting hair), gives blondes sun kissed strands and brunettes caramel warmth and dimension. She loves helping people find their true beauty.  She treats her clients like family and her hands on approach helps her create lasting relationships with her clients. Ilona's mission is to bring the inner beauty out by creating a complementary, healthy, vibrant hair color and cuts. In addition to her signature hair color, Ilona is also renowned for her Keratin straightening treatments, an innovative technique that replaces the Keratin in hair follicles, both relaxing the curl and restoring shine. 

With clients on both costs, Ilona splits her time between L.A. and New York. Currently Ilona is a senior hair stylist at Matthew Preece Salon and her work could be seen on her Instagram page @IlonaMusaelyan.
